shared folder user autenthication from vista to server 2003
Hi,
i have a problem with accessing a windows 2003 shared folder via windows vista.
windows vista requires that i authenticate to view the windows 2003 shared folder, while in xp i can access the folder directly without authentication. i have a windows xp machine sharing a folder also and through vista i can access it via windows vista without any kind of login.
i would like to deactivate the authentication when accessing the shared folder of the server 2003 workstation while using vista.
hope you can help me
thanks in advance

To hazard a guess:The share has user access permissions assigned to it. The user account on the XP box matches those permissions (username/password), but the Vista box does not.Options:Either create a new user on the server (that matches the user account on the Vista box), and give that user permissions on the share, or change the user account (via Start > run > control userpasswords2) on the Vista box to match that of the XP box.Deactivating authentication would need to be done on the server (read: you'd need to allow anonymous access to the share), and, frankly, wouldn't be a very good idea, from a security standpoint.
