sharing issues
This problem is verry strange. We are 4 friens living together and are sharing folders in our home network. We all shares folders with everyone group sett to read rights. I can open the shares folders for two of the computers in the network but strangely not other folders. we have deactivated password protection sharing. I have two computer and one of them is a notebook with win7 home prem. I can't connect to a share folder on my notebook from my stationary computer and the other way around. But I can connect to my friends computer. I always get "Enter Network Password" Yes i can connect if I type the username and password, but the whole idea is not too.. Is someone having the same issues or can explain why this is happening? ... Eskild

Make sure there is no firewall blocking (Windows firewall, antivirus firewall, Zonealarm, etc) on computer to block file sharing traffic. Also you need to make sure you have enabled simple file sharing correctly, you might check out this Win7 simple file sharing article, maybe could help. Hope this helps.

Simple file sharing is correctly enabled, and It can't be a firewall issu since I can access one shared folder in the network but strangely not others. say this scenario: 3 computers has one folder shared with everyone and read rights. computer1 can access computer2s shared folder computer3 can't access computer2s shared folder computer1 can access computer3s shared folder. computer3 can access computer1s shared folder. computer2 can't access computer1s shared folder. one of the computers have just been formatted, and use the same network settings. this computer can access one computer but not the other.

Since you are living with your friends, I think you can consider to turn off Password Protected Sharing, and then speciall give the Guest sharing permission and NTFS permission of the shared folders. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.
