static route via mobile phone network interface
hi all
i am trying to get my pc to connect to the internet via my mobile phone while at the same time having access to the LAN (which has routes to the internet.
the requirment is that the pc should only use the mobile phone to connect to the net. not connect to the internet via the LAN.
let me explain...
initially the pc is connected to the LAN and all works fine. sites i visit see the ip address of my router.
i then disconnect the LAN cable and connect the mobile phone's USB cable and dial a connectin to my provider
the pc now connects to the net using my phone
fine again...
now, without terminating the mobile phone's internet connection i reconnect the LAN cable and visit a site again.
the site now sees the address of my router again. not the mobile phone provider's
it seems like the router gets preference over my mobile phone. why is this?
can i force internet traffic to go via the mobile phone irrespective of whether the pc is connected to the LAN or not?
here's some info
C:\>route print

i tried adding a static route to go via the mobile phone's interface but it doesn't seem to have worked:
route add 0.0.0.0 mask 0.0.0.0 if 25
Any ideas?
Many thanks,
Kos

increase the ipv4 "metric" setting of the LAN so it is less favorable than the tethered cellphone. (if that doesn't help, try the ipv6 metric next).
