Hi there, please go to Start>Control Panel>Admin Tools>Services, scroll down to System Restore, and read what it says.f it says that it is'Running and Automatic'then it is on.f however it's disabled, click on the System Restore entry once.On the upper left hand side of the page,it should state'restart'click on that once and Reboot your pc.Then go back thereand check what the System Restore entry says.f it says that it's Running and Automatic, good,f not, please Right Click System Restore entry>Properties,The window that opens should state next to Start Type'Disabled'click on the dropdown men next to it and change that to 'Automatic'Then below that you'll see''State of Service' or something similar and next to it 'Off'. Underneath that click on 'Start' ,then Approve, then ok.Reboot your pc and please go back there.System restore entry should say now that it is Running and Automatic.f that's the case, please exit and Create a new restore point.f you don't know how please come back and ask.Do come back if you like and tell us how you go.UPDATE, forgot to includea small step earlier, please reread instructions.

Hi again, the steps i have given you above, will turn System Restore back on However removing the restriction of'Group Policy' requires you to access the registry, through ' regedit' and as you seem to be new to computers, it may be best if you get someone else to do it for you. can still give you the step by step instructions(which are simple enough)but i will need to know whether your OS is WXP Home or WXP PRO.My reluctance is simply due to the fact, that messing with the registry is rather tricky,as it can damage your pc, if you make a wrong move. will await your reply.

Hi again, please note:The following steps will need to be taken carefully,as doing anything other than what is advised, may require reinstalling the OS. In Windows XP Professional, 1. Click Start, Run and type GPEDIT.MSC 2. Navigate to this path:Computer Configuration Administrative Templates System System Restore3. Set 'Turn off System Restore' to 'Not Configured'4.Set 'Turn off Configuration' to 'Not Configured'That's it.Exit the registry and reboot your pc.Then go back to System Restore,if everything is ok,please let me know.
