trying to configure Remote desktop connections
Windows 2008 r2 How do I configure remote desktop connections so upon login to a users computer, I see their desktop. Currently, when I login I see my profile but the user cannot see the desktop. They see Alt Cntl Del. Thanks

I think its called Remote Desktop Ghosting. Which allows you to see what someone else is working on while use remote desktop. Alternatively you can use a software like UltraVnc

Remote Desktop supports interactive logon but it does lock out the current user. What you may want to try is Remote Assistance it will allow you to log in and see the users desktop and watch what they are doing as well as interact with their desktop. Sean MCTS: Windows 7

UltraVnc does not work with windows 7. Wait... What? Darn, I guess this means I'll have to stop using it with my Windows 7 Home Premium boxes then.

Thanks Sean that is what I am looking. Do you have link. My current configuration allows me to remote control but the user loses access (they have to alt cntl delete to regain access). Hey Bob, How did you get UVNC to work? I would love to have both options. I installed on test machine but it was not consistant. Some alt cntl delte would work other time it would not. Again, thanks My servers are win2k3 and win2k8. Workstation are win xp and win 7.

I just installed it, that's all. I will admit that I don't use the provided client to access it though, I use a web browser (Chrome). I do like Remote Desktop better, it's faster and has a better interface, but it's not available except as a client on the home versions.

thanks, Niki, I have it working but on a domain just not efficient. I need to be able to connect to their workstation without user intervention. What a pain! UVNC locks up or either cntl alt delete does not work.

Hi, The error is occurred if the user doesn't have the required permissions to start the COM component or the Network Service account does not have the correct permissions. Please understand you need to modify using the Component Services administrative tool from Server side. Please contact Server Forum to get more help.
