validating microsoft os
I ran several programs recommended by majorgeeks.com to eliminate malware, etc. from my computer and now I'm getting the message that my os did not pass the validation and may be counterfeit. It has passed the validation since I bought the computer, several years ago.I clicked on the link in the notification and went to the validation site, but it still won't validate. I did not get a validation code with my computer because I bought it refurbished, so what do I do now?1 person got this answerI do too

Back up your data to external media and reinstall with a genuine disk and Key. What Operating System is the computer licensed for according to the COA sticker on the case? XP Home, or XP Pro? (or perhaps even Windows 2000?).Whichever it is (and assuming you can still read the Key on the stoker (no, do NOT post it!), you will need either the Recovery disks for that PC, or a copy of an OEM System Builder disk to be able to install using that key. (with luck, if you have the proper recovery disk set, you will be able to install without the COA Key) -- Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC | The Three-toed Sloth
