vista home premium vpn map network drives logon
Using Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit, I cannot map to network drives after connecting to my VPN (RSA). I receive an error "Logon Unsuccessful" (Windows is unable to logon. Be sure to check user name and password). These are correct. I experienced this previously and Dell was able to change some advanced settings which corrected the problem. However, I recently had to reinstall my operating system and Dell refuses to assist me again without a fee. Can anyone please provide me with detailed instructions on who to fix this problem? Event Viewer: Event ID 4648, Microsoft Window security - A logon was attempted using explicit credentials. My understanding is this has something to do with joining a domain. Thanks

Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums. As your are running Windows Vista Home Premium, please click start, type regedit and press Enter. Please navigate to KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Lsa and set the value of Set LmCompatibilityLevel to 1. After that, Please type Local Security Policy from the start menu and press enter, then navigate to Local Policies->Security Options..->find the Policy Key named Network Security : LAN Manager Authentication Level and set the value to Send LM and NTLM responces. I'm unable to find the Local Security Policy by searching from the start menu to change the LAN Manager Authentication Level. Is there another way to locate this? Thank You Jennifer
