windows 7
HiI hope someone can help. We installed Windows 7 a while ago. It ran perfect for about a month. Now it won't start up all of the sudden. It says: :Windows hasn;t been shut down normally" or sth like that and then I get the following options: Safe mode/safe mode with networking/ safe mode with prompt command/ normal mode. I tried all, and after each starting mode I get the windows emblem-it says "windows is starting" and then just a greyish screen with only the mouse visible. The only disc I have is the Windows 7 disc, but won't do anyting either.

Sapir - The first thing I would try doing would be to see if you can get the Task Manger up when Windows finally loads. When you get Windows loaded, try pressing CTRL-SHIFT-ESC to see if it loads. Alternatively, you can hit CTRL-ALT-DEL and click on Start Task Manager. From here, if you can get it up and running, you can try a couple of things. Click on the Processes Tab and look for EXPLORER.EXE. If you find a copy, kill it. If it doesn't restart, click on the Applications Tab and click on the New Task button. From there, type EXPLORER.EXE and see if that loads the task bar and such.If you have gotten this far and you can get the RUN box to pop up by clicking on New Task, you can also try a system restore by pasting the following exact text into the RUN box:%systemroot%\system32\rstrui.exeBe sure to set your restore point to a date before this issue popped up.If that still doesn't quite do it - you can try an in place upgrade using the Win 7 RC DVD. Insert the DVD and boot from the disk. When it comes up install Windows 7 on top of itself - without formatting or wiping out your current installation and data.
