Hi, although your question would be off topic in this Forum, you have only to run dcomcnfg on your pc and give the right permission as wrote in error message: The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {D3DCB472-7261-43CE-924B-0704BD730D5F} and APPID {D3DCB472-7261-43CE-924B-0704BD730D5F} to the user home-pc\tom SID (S-1-5-21-1836177845-2775781821-909554598-1001) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool. Thanks Much. I went to the COM console and when I was looking at the configuration, the firewall popped up with a block inbound connection warning for the Microsoft Management Console. Could this have something to do with the error. I don't know why the MMC would request an inbound connection?

You can refer the following KB article. It is also applied in Windows 7. You can try: 1. go to DCOMCNFG 2. In the left tree structure, right click on My Computer and select Properties 3. Click on COM SECURITY tab 4. Give Permissions to Network Service and Users in the "Access Permissions" and "Launch and Activation Permissions" by clicking the Edit Default buttons. 5. Change permissions here. By the way, the default permission of your DCOM classes should be properly. The issue can be caused by any third party programs that are not compatible so they do not have proper permissions to access these classes. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Aurthur, Thanks. I believe this was caused by Itunes linking contacts to Outlook and gmail. I gave permission to the Network Service and this solved the problem.
