windows 7 locks dvdrom's after 30 minutes of installing ???? how can i fix it
i reacently bought win7 and after installing it from the dvdrom found that it locks the dvd roms , nothing works to eject them, not the emergency reliese or the notmal button. i have tried a lot of these small aplications that give u the option to open and close the drives, and they also failed, i cannot see with program is locking the drives, and have also uninstalled and cleaned the regestry of all other programs i have installed. i have even tried a clean install again and the same thing happens.i also tried changing option in the regestry that worked for other people , and also updated the drives firmware, but still nothing worksi have noticed that as soon as i choose to shut down then i can open the drives while windows is still open, but then its already 60% shut down. The drives are both samsung one is IDE and other Sata the Sata was bought about 3 months ago.As far as i can see this is a software proplem, cause the drives work fine in dos and in other operating systems (xp and vista tested)Any other suggestions i can try and use ?

Have you checked the DVD-Rom settings in the BIOS? Please make sure they are recongized correctly. Can you let us know your DVD-Rom's detail models? First, you'd better to check if they are compatible with Windows 7 first, you can check them in this link:http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Default.aspx?type=HardwareIf they are both compatible with Windows 7, it's better to fix them one by one, please disable one in the Device manager first. For example, you just need right click your SATA DVD-Rom in the Device Manager, and choose Disable. After that, please test if the IDE DVD-ROM works fine now, if not, please remove it in the Device manager, and restart to let your machine load the driver automatically. After that, please test again. Good luck! John

HI JohnThanks i fogot the name at model of the samsung sata drive i have at home the IDE one is DH162d model , and the sata is about 3 months old the box said its vista complaint. they do work and windows pick them up but it doesnt alow me to eject the doors while i'm logged into windows 7. I have noticed the following works to get the drive doors to open and close.1. when i log out the admin profile or choose the switch user ( as soon as the titles of the users show i can open and close )2. if i get a blank disc in and burn with nero, the drive door opens when the burning is complete, but if i close the door without burning another disc it doesnt alow me to open the drive doors. Some where is a software conflict but i cant get it right, i deleted the cdrom.sys file last night rebooted and copied a new cdrom.sys forma workling version over. rebooted and it still gives me the same error saying that there was a error ejecting the disc.i dont know if replacing the drive with another make is going to help either :-(is there a command somewhere that i can acess that widnows send to the drives, or somehow see what the command is that nero sends to the drives once a burn session is complete ?like i said the drives work 100% in windows Xp and dos mode i installed win 7 ont he same drive thats giving this error.waiting your reply, thanks shaun
