windows 7 wifi problem never answered
Hi I saw the same wifi- windows 7 problem as mine on this site, and it was labelled as "answered " by the moderator - It was not answered. The poster listed all conditions that would have stopped wifi access, and the moderator told her to do several of the items she already had done. I can only assume it was a scripted tech or a machine response. Problem - Windows 7 on my netbook no longer connects to public wifi -(I est 20 sites were tried this weekend.) It goes thru its sequence and then says unable to connect. My 2 other laptops - non windows 7 OS - connect just fine, every time. W7 on the netbook did connect when I first got it a month back, and it connected to public hardwire rj45 and it connects to my encrypted wifi, but it does not connect to public wifi at libraries, coffee shops, etc. And no, I do not turn off the wifi accidentally with the keyswitch when I go to a public site and accidentally turn it back on for my encrypted site. I ran troubleshooter, problem remains. I went to control panel and tried as many options as I could, given the limited capability of Control Panel. I have to assume one of the updates changed a switch and didn't put it back. But I cna't find it. FWIW - I have set up a fair number of routers and modems - and program is several languages and have fixed machines and code local repair firms said were uinfixable. And no, I cannot ask every adminstrator and coffee shop clerk for gates and paths so I can use my netbook at a coffee shop. May I repeat - Because the problem remains with windows 7 - it does not change from site to site, it is not there with other OS, it is noted in several places on the internet by many people as happening only when they use windows 7- THIS IS A WINDOWS 7 PROBLEM. What is the fix? thank you.

I don't believe this is a Windows 7 problem. I have setup several notebooks and netbooks with Windows 7 and connect via wireless. I have had 2 notbooks and 1 netbook running Windows 7 since Jnauary 2009 and I have never encountered a wireless connection problem with any of them. In this mix are 3 different wireless cards all happily connecting at 'N' speeds. The best I can suggest is you make sure you have the most current Windows 7 drivers installed.
