I have tried many different approaches to fix this checking the registry and other BIOS issues to no avail. I have Windows 7 on 2 different workstations 1 works great the other just won't shutdown or restart. This took place after the orginal install, maybe when the 1st set of updates are applied, Thanks.

Yes it does have ACPI in device manager, in the event viewer it list shutdown as successful, is there somewhere in particlar you would like me to look? Thanks

In the Event Viewer expand Applications and Services Logs Microsoft Windows Diagnostics-Performance Operational Look at the Shutdown Performance events. Event ID 200 is logged for every shutdown.
