windows 7 you do not have permission to save in this location
I installed windows 7 Home Premium (over XP service pack3)last week and all worked fine. Suddenly tonight I find that when I download an image (jpeg)from Ancestry I get the message "you do not have permission to save in this location".All directories give this error. I can download files from other sites to the same directories without problems and can access the directories without problems from all other locations- any ideas?I was able to download successfully yesterday. The account has Admin rights.

No I am using Kaspersky 9.0.0.463. I now have found that I can download djvu files from FindMyPast to anywhere but tiff files from Scotlands People and jpeg from Ancestry show the problem. Exe files from other sites save fine.It looks as though something has changed but what? I haven't changed anything (famous last words).

I have been experimenting - If I run IE8 as administrator I can save files from Ancestry. Does this mean my permissions are wrong?

There appears to be an issue between Ancestry's Enhanced Viewer and IE 7 and 8 Protected Mode as discussed in the following link:http://boards.ancestry.com/topics.ancestry.ancsite/10007/mb.ashxIn the above link there was a hint that there may be an updated version of the Enhanced Viewer that may solve the problem.Have you installed the latest version of the Enhanced Viewer?

Hi, In Windows Vista and Windows 7, all Administrator accounts operate as normal user accounts unless you explicitly elevate a function by using the run as administrator option or approve the UAC prompt when it pops up. In this way, your system will be protected from viruses and hackers. This is why running IE as administrator can download the files. You may also try the following suggestions one by one to check the issue. Suggestion 1: Temporarily disable antivirus program. Suggestion 2: Click Start, type inetcpl.cpl into Search box and press Enter. Switch to Security tab, uncheck Enable Protected Mode (requires restarting Internet Explorer) and click OK. Suggestion 3: Click the Start Button, type "User account control" and press Enter. When the User account control settings box appears, move the slider to Never notify and click OK. Whats the result? Suggestion 3 works as follows but BEWARE it will delete any saved password and usernames. 1. To disable User Account Control just type UAC into the start menu or Control Panel search box and click Enter 2. Click "User Account Control settings" 3. Move slider down to the bottom and click OK 4. If you continue it wll delete saved user names and passwords so BEWARE 5. Restart computer It worked for me! Alex
