windows cannot connect to the printer. cannot create a file when that file already exists
SETTING UP A PRINTER AND RECEIVING THIS ERROR, THERE ARE SEVERAL THAT ARE CLOSE BUT DO NOT APPLY TO WINDOWS 7. THE PRINTER WE WANT TO CONNECT TO IS ON A XP PRO MACHINE AND THE PRINTER IS A UPS THERMAL LABEL PRINTER UPS 2844. ANY THOGHTS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

JUST IN CASE ANY ONE IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE, I FOUND THE SOLUTION. POWER DOWN AND UNPLUG UPS PRINTER FROM XP PRO MACHINE. ON THE WINDOWS 7 MACHINE, GO TO DEVICES AND PRINTING, IF THE PRINTER IS NOT LISTED, CLICK ON ANY OTHER PRINTER ONCE AND CLICK ONTO PRINT SERVER PROPERTIES. CLICK ON DRIVERS AND SCROLL DOWN AND FIND ANY UPS DRIVERS AND REMOVE DRIVERS AND PACKAGES. GO TO UPS. COM AND DOWN LOAD THE DRIVER AND THEN DOWN LOAD THE ACTIVE X CONTROL. DO NOT RUN THE PRINT TEST PAGE FROM ZEBRA JUST YET. PLUG IN THE PRINTER USB. AND TURN ON POWER. WINDOWS WILL FIND PRINTER AND DO THE REST. NEXT IN THE WINDOWS 7 BOX, RIGHT CLICK ON THE UPS PRINTER AND CLICK ON SHARING AND SHARE THE PRINTER, CLICK ON "LIST IN THE DIRECTORY". AND CLOSE OUT THE ALL WINDOWS. GO TO XP PRO MACHINE AND THROUGH MY NETWORK PLACES FIND THE USER AND PRINTER AND CLICK ON CONNECT. I FOUND THAT INSTEAD OF TRYING TO SHARE THE PRINTER THROUGH XP PRO, I SHARED IT THROUGH WINDOWS 7 INTEAD. HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE. GENE

Found a work around hat seems to work. On the Windows 7 Machine go to "C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers" delete documents in the folder. Go to the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Drivers\Version-3\ and if exist delete UPS Thermal 2xxx. Download the latest drivers from here: https://filexfer.ups.com/pub/drivers/UPS_319_117.exe Install the printer locally (run the setup, select the appropriate model and finish the install) If everything goes fine you now should have new printer on your printer list. Go to the computer where the printer is shared and conect to it. When finish delete the printer you installed locally. Hope this helps...
