We use domain policies (2008) to update windows patches and we have a intranet server to download/distribute patches. My problem is, when a client go offsite is there a way to switch automatically to get updates from internet? This should happen without any interaction of the user, like using logon script etc.

IMHO: From the security point of view, the best solution is centralized update even for offsite work. Connect to company system via VPN, check updates, updated and allow access to local systems and outside via firewall. Regards Milos
