windows usability: forehead slapping - dialog boxes talking to explorer
I know that chances of anything happening with is are minute, but I have to give it a go: I used autodialogs and filebox extender on xp: great but useless on win7 x64. Direct folders on win7 x64 slowed the whole system down and made explorer buggy. The reason these apps are necessary is because explorer doesn't talk to save/open dialogue boxes: so if you are browsing files in explorer and open a file from eg E:\WEB\development\things\PDF\anotherlevel\killmenow\ you have to navigate there AGAIN in the save dialog box. Crazy when it is sitting there open in explorer. So the most useful tool I've found is the CLICK-SWITCH feature of filebox EX. and direct folders: When you have a dialog box open, click on an explorer window and it jumps the dialog box location to the explorer window location. Once you've got used to this, using an OS without it is a nightmare. I've shown this to mac users (who all think they've got the most usable OS) and they're hugely impressed. Such a little thing, but saves so much time. If this isn't crying out to be a powertoy, I dont know what is.

Hi, thank you for posting here. First you should make sure these two programs is compatible with Windows 7 or not. You can ask the manufacturer or check it on Windows 7 Compatibility Center Try to run the programs with Vista Compatible Mode to see if the same issue occurs. As you said they work find on Windows XP, I suggest you using Windows XP Mode: Install and use Windows XP Mode in Windows 7 Hope it helps.
