Hi all. Having problems connecting to my wireless router, a Dlink Dir-655 (up to date firmware). If I look at my adapter settings its says that it is "attempting to authenticate". Occasionally and randomly, I can connect for a few minutes (though the connection is dreadfully slow) and then I lose the connection. Things worked great for a few months but after recent Microsoft updates, the issue came up. Other users can connect wirelessly with no issues, they have XP. I have tried all of the WPA and WPA2 configurations, factory defaulted the router and started over, checked for updates to the driver and router firmware versions with no luck. Laptop is an HP Pavillion dv6. Windows 7 Version is Professional, 64 bit. Thanks for any help.

Do you have the HP wireless utility running? I find letting windows manage the wireless connection causes fewer issues than using the OEM utilities most vendors supply. Run msconfig and look in the startup tab for somethig related to wireless and uncheck it to disable it. Reboot and follow the steps found here to configure. Jerry

I have the latest Bios and ran the clean boot. I can connect now if I wait for about 2-10 minutes after starting my laptop - it just all of a sudden connects. Stays connected until the laptop sleeps in which case I generally have to wait again to connect when I want to use the computer again. Ryan

I did not see anything wireless and I guess can only assume windows is managing the connection. Ryan
