won't restart
HI, Media PLayer didn't respond on my Windows vista ultimate. And stopped letting me use the internet, so I was going to restart. ---- It has been three and half an hour. Computer is still trying to shut down. I only see the blue color of beginning page with the Windows vista Ultimate on the bottom, saying shutting down.... I pressed CTRL, ALT, DEL to escape, but did not work. And cursor does not show up. Please help me!!!!

One sure fire way to shut down is just hold in the power button for 4-6 seconds - do you see anything else at all? It would be bad to shut it down if it was applying updates, but since you don't see anything like that go ahead and power down (holding in the power button). If it doesn't perform normally on startup, you may want to scan for viruses/malware. Let us know how it goes from there.MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. Hi, I would like to know if the computer works OK now. To avoid this kind of issue in the future, please update BIOS and device drivers to the latest version and install available updates. In addition, this Forum is for Windows 7 Operating System. For Windows Vista issue, I suggest using the "Windows Vista" Forum which would be the more relevant forums for your question. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windowsvistaitpro Hope it helps.Vivian Xing - MSFT
