x86 Printer Drivers in 64 bits Windows 7
Dear all, here is my problem : I have a multifunction printer (Canon MP630) installed and working fine on my 64 bits Windows 7 Desktop. I want to share this printer with two other computers : a 32-bits Vista laptop and a 32-bits XP laptop. For the time being, I just tried with the 32-bits Vista. Vista is finding the printer in the network without any problem but is unable to install it (drivers missing). Here come the problems. 1. The printer was previously functionning with the same configuration when my desktop was run by 32 bits Vista. So I guess the laptop already has the proper drivers. I don't find them and the assistant is not willing to search for me... 2. I tried the other way around : on my 64 bits Windows 7, I went to the sharing properties of the printer and yes ! there is an option to install x86 drivers for networking purposes. I try to do so and I get an error message saying that the x86 drivers are not designed for my processor architecture or something like that. Impossible to use this function (not to mention that I'm supposed to provide a dot.inf file whereas every drivers comes in an .exe file now... but i managed with the help of 7-zip). 3. Ok, last try, I take the x86 drivers and try to install the printer with them from the laptop. When the laptop is looking for the printer, as the drivers are not available in the network, it asks for installing the drivers manually. No problem, I do so with the drivers I got from the Canon website. But of course, it doesn't work - "Windows can't locate any appropriate driver. Please contact your administrator." Well I contacted myself but I was unable to provide an answer. An idea anyone ? Thanks !

In the box "Enter a port name", type the address as the following format. \\[IP address of the host computer]\[The Share Name of the printer] Then click Next. 6.
